Today at 9:51 am, Lisbon has registered an earthquake of 3.4 on the Richter scale and an epicenter in the Tagus, 10 kilometers northwest of Alcohete. 

Initially, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) reported that the earthquake’s epicenter had been about eight kilometers east of Loures.

The IPMA later corrected the information and stated that the epicenter was about 10 km Northwest of Alcochete on the Tagus River, nine kilometers deep.

According to the information available so far, this earthquake did not cause any personal or material damage and was felt with maximum intensity III / IV (modified Mercalli scale) in the Lisbon region.

The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere also published a tweet providing further explanations on Lisbon’s quake. According to the comments, several people felt the earthquake in Lisbon’s following areas: Amadora, Odivelas, Benfica, and Santo António dos Cavaleiros.
